MEET THE CURATOR

Analise Samantha Delphine

Greetings! My name is Analise and I’m a Sierra Leonean-American cooperative guide carrying out a legacy of storytelling, cultural organizing, migration, and placemaking for the sake of generational healing. In curating healing travel experiences, I seek to cultivate an interconnected web of sustenance that transcends national borders and through which resources can move. A deep reverence for the land and my work guiding groups of farmers and artists across the northeast United States in the development of their cooperative businesses inspires my curatorial practice. Writing, analog photography and film, as well as collage open up portals of memory and future-making for me.

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO SURF WITH US?

“I joined Common Healing for “Be Well: Rockaway Surf Day” back in September after searching casually for a surf lesson for my daughter only to stumble on Common Healing’s platform offering a curated day of prayer, yoga and surf to close out the summer season. The container which was created for our group to experience surf guided by local instructors brought many beautiful and influential souls together for a day of bonding through surf (a practice in surrender and humility), and wisdom sharing/solidarity building and informed by a reverence for nature, ritual and reciprocity in the grounding yoga and prayer/water ceremony we opened with.

Given the endless choices we have under capitalism for the consumption of experiences, my time with Common Healing was a radical departure from that consumerist approach. An invaluable transmission to my 9 year old daughter especially in her getting to witness embodied leadership guiding us through an intentional and relational approach to engagement with our environment and the shared activity of the day. I feel deep gratitude to Analise for her vision and the ethos of Common Healing in its potential for uniting kindred individuals sharing such ideals and on the journey of consciousness raising as a political responsibility.”
